Fish in Canada's True North - the Yukon Territory and explore the wilderness at its finest - Tagish Lake.
For many years this glacier fed, crystal clear lake was playground for occasional anglers from Whitehorse.
Now its a well kept secret within a small community of anglers who travel up the Alaska Highway to fish in this extremely secluded lake system.
The main lake called Taku Arm meanders through softly ascending mountains, branches off into numerous inlets and bays and finally ends at the foot of the coastal mountains of the South Alaskan / Canadian border more than 60 miles/100 km from it's outlet at Tagish River.
The lake contains fish species such as; lake trout, northern pike, arctic grayling, whitefish and burbot in unmeasured numbers. You may catch your own trophy size laker or a northern pike in one of the remotely located inlets and shallow lagoons. Spring water clear creeks, brooks and a few shallow rivers feed the main lake along the picturesque landscape of the Tagish Lake Plateau. An excellent fishing place to fly-fish for arctic graylings or even lake trout.
"I had a thoroughly enjoyable visit with Jacqueline and Beat when I was
researching an Outdoor Canada article about fishing in the Yukon. They are
wonderful and gracious hosts, very friendly and eager to please. Their
operation is remote, yet top-notch in every aspect. How can you not like a
place where the log cabin I stayed in is named 'Jack London'? Beat showed me
how to catch lake trout in Tagish Lake, and both of them - along with a few
of their best sled dogs - took me on an awe-inspiring hike one afternoon.
The Yukon is a magical place, not only for the scenery and the wealth of
outdoor opportunities, but for the special people like Jacqueline and Beat.
I look forward to returning to the lodge one day soon."
